At the Dunstaffnage site, the SAMSGroup has developed an integrated approach to further the commercialization of marine resources and utilize the broad multi-disciplinary expertise available at the Scottish Association for Marine Science. Embedded within the research base provided by SAMS, commercial marine services are fostered by SRSL. Furthermore, the SAMSGroup comprises the European Centre for Marine Biotechnology (ECMB), an incubator unit, which provides international development facilities for new-businesses capitalizing upon recources in the marine environment.
Through the provision of a strong knowledge transfer team combined with the expertise of the SAMS resource base we aim to allow professional products and services to more effectively reach the relevant market place. In parallel to this, SRSL aims to act as a service provider to industry and SME's by way of an access point to specialist knowledge and facilities. Part of our activities are specifically aimed to enhance interactions between the research base and commercial enterprises in order to stimulate knowledge transfer and create opportunities for innovation.
